DIY: How To Make Blueberry Pie

on Tuesday, March 6, 2012

It's National Pie Week!
To celebrate we thought we would share our simple and delicious Blueberry Pie recipe...
It's basically the best there is!

All you need for 6 blueberry pies is:

A pack of ready rolled shortcrust pastry
125g fresh blueberries
40g caster sugar
5g plain flour
a pinch of cinnamon
a good squeeze from a wedge of lemon

Ready? Ok...

Pop the oven on at 180 degrees celsius.
Cut out 6 round pie bases and pop them into a buttered muffin tin.
Mix together the sugar, flour and cinnamon.
Add the blueberries and lemon juice and mix until the blueberries are covered in the mixture.
Spoon into the pie bases. If you have any of the flour and sugar left, just sprinkle on the top.
Cut out lids for the pies from the remaining shortcrust pastry. We have made a mixture of classic pie tops and star shapes; be sure to have some fun with it!
Pop the lids on top of each pie and brush lightly with a little bit of milk if you don't want them to brown too much whilst baking.
Pop in the oven for 15-20 mins until golden.
Take them out and let them cool for 5 minutes as they will be as hot as the sun!!

*Ta*Da*
Add some cream and loosen that belt - these are so good you will eat them all in a flash!
They really are the best, right? Just goes to show that you don't need a whole load of fancy ingredients to make the most delicious tasting pie :) Your mum will be proud!

We hope you enjoyed our little recipe...
Happy Pie Week!
