Candy Floss Cocktails & A Happy New Year!

on Monday, December 31, 2012

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

As we are celebrating the bells for 2013, we will be sipping on the cocktail of our dreams:
Candy Floss Champagne!

If you'd like to join us in raising your glass, all you need to do is pop a ball of candy floss (or Cotton Candy) into a glass or tea cup, fill it up with some lovely Champagne and watch in wonder as the candy floss dissolves... a sip of this candy cocktail is definitely the best way to remind yourself of how sweet 2012 was!

We look forward to hanging out with you in 2013 and wish you all the best!

Style Me Friday - Christmas Wish List!

on Friday, December 21, 2012

With Christmas just around the corner I thought I would share some of our top picks on our Christmas  wish list. We've been very good this year so we're hoping we've made it on the Nice List and have our fingers, (and toes!) crossed in hope of finding some of these goodies under our tree this year!

I've had my little heart set on these Nebula earrings since the wonderful Peaches & Pebbles created them. Gorgeous, aren't they? Being a space nut, I'm an avid collector of space (and specifically moon) themed treasures. They're the perfect way to add a little galaxy love into my everyday wardrobe :)

Space aside, my other passion is vintage style. I've just discovered the new line of make up by Dita Von Teese for Art Deco and it is to die for. Her 'vintage' line of cosmetics comes in the most beautiful gold packaging and if you're a pin up gal like me, you'll know how important the right shade of lipstick is. Dita does not disappoint! I'd like two of everything please; one for my dresser and one for my handbag ;)

We don't care if you think it's cliché; we're from Scotland and we love tartan! This white tartan scarf from James Pringle is possibly the most rock and roll thing we've seen all year and the perfect boyfriend scarf to be stolen on a cold and windy day!

No man would be complete without some killer headphones! These earmuff's have the headphones hidden inside, meaning you can keep warm and keep the tunes blasting when you're out and about. Brilliant, right? We both bought some stupidly expensive Urbanears headphones last year and they didn't last very long at all. We've learned that spending a fortune doesn't always get you the best gear, so for us, cheap and practical is the way forward. FYI, these Skinnydip ones are £15... and are currently on sale for £8 :D

This year our top pick for homeware is this collection of tins created by our favorite designer, Wayne Hemingway. Creator of the infamous British Vintage festivals, we adore his retro style and can't get enough of these kitchen accessories. We think Vivid HQ looks incomplete without them; we drink so much tea and coffee we know they will be going to a good home if they come to ours!

Last but not least on our Christmas Wish List is the first season of our favoirte tv show, New Girl. This is how we plan to spend Boxing Day should we get it. New-Girl-A-Thon and leftover sandwiches. You're totally invited to come round and get involved too if you bring some popcorn ;)

We hope you've managed to get all your shopping done... I know I still have a few cheeky items to go!
Good Luck!

DIY: Free Gift Tag Print Outs For Christmas!

on Saturday, December 15, 2012

Happy Holidays Everyone!

This month we thought we would create a fun free print out for everyone to share - 'tis the season after all!

Vivid HQ is already brimming with gifts for the holidays, and we love nothing more than to sit down and have a good wrap-a-thon :D

Always keen to have something a little different and to save some money, we've created a set of 6 tags for you to download and attach to your presents to jazz them up a bit. How fun!

We've got Santa's moustache, a couple of crackers and 3 classic styled gift tags with our very own special design for you to download and print for free.

All you need to do is save the file below, and print out at A4. Carefully cut each one out with scissors and hole punch the circles into the gift tags. Then using some string or glue, simply stick on your pretty wrapped boxes and pop under the tree... Perfect!

Vivid Christmas Tags (1MB PDF - right-click and 'Save As...')

Don't they look fab?
We have over 20 family members coming round for the big day and we think the little personal touches like these make all the difference. The prettier and more fun the better we say :D

We hope you enjoy our little gift to you and we wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Happy Wrapping...

Style Crush: Laidbare Beauty Products

on Thursday, December 13, 2012

Today I thought I would share a little secret with you. I've just discovered Laidbare's incredible beauty products and I am in love!

It's not very often that I get excited about a cosmetic product, because 9 times out of 10, I'm left  disappointed. Never one to settle, I'll happily give everything a good go to find the one that's right for me, and trust me, I mean everything!

My new crush has come in the form of Laidbare. I discovered their products in a department store recently and I have to admit it's possibly been my best find all year. For me, taking care of my skin is really important, especially during winter as I find the cold dry air particularly effects me... and, of course, there is no better feeling than some pampering when it's snowing outside!

So, what's all the fuss about? Well, to start with, all of the products in the range are 100% natural. I find that the ones pumped full of chemicals tend to be rather undesirable. I had a shot on some of Benefit's new moisturizer, which although looks a treat, cost quite a lot of money and left me with a horrible taste in my mouth - literally. Ok, ok, I know you're not meant to eat the stuff (which I didn't!), but when moisturizing I do include my lips in the process. Perhaps that's not normal, but I think it's important, and I think that a moisturizer should be able to cope with it. Unfortunately I could taste chemicals all day, which is not only disgustingly unpleasant, but left me pretty concerned about what I was putting on my skin! If it's not natural, it's not worth it if you ask me.

I find that whenever I want to buy a completely natural product, I'm usually disappointed with the packaging and branding. As you will have noticed from our blog and shop, branding is really important to us. We're designers and we like to fill our lives full of good looking items; it may sound shallow, but I bet it's more important to you than you think.
Hands down, Laidbare is the best looking product on the shelf. It's clean and simple with a beautiful typeface and its 50/50 colour brings a Damien Hirst tear to my eye. With cute names like "Working 9 to 5", "Butter Me Up" and "DIY", you know for sure that I am in heaven!
I certainly don't feel like an old maid carrying this cream in my bag :)

Looks aside, I'm delighted to share that the products are great too. I've been using them for a while now and not only has my skin cleared up and become silky soft, I smell delicious too! My favourite products form the range are the body butter, cleanser and toner and moisturizer...

The body butter "Butter Me Up" has the most beautiful smell of bergamot (one of my favourites!) and has hints of jasmine and patchouli in the mix too. It smells really luxurious when you're putting it on and the scent lasts for hours, which is incredible for a natural product. It takes a few seconds to massage it into your skin, but the results are simply devine; my skin is soft and the boyfriend is a fan - what more could a girl ask for?!

I'm a big fan of the two in one Clenser & Toner "DIY" as it get's the job done fast and extremely well. Being party season, the last thing I want to worry about is spending ages trying to take my party face off before bed, and the state my skin is going to be left in the next morning. Combined products are the way forward! Not only has my face cleared up (I get spots around my mouth), but this stuff smells like my favourite party treat; lime jelly! I swear, it takes years off you in mood and ageing :D

Last, but certainly not least, is the all important moisturizer. "Working 9 to 5" is an anti-aging hydration cream that is bang full of goodness; you wouldn't want anything less for your most important feature! The cream is like a second skin which is ideal for that cold, dry air that is super tough on you're skin at this time of year. It has a light rosewater scent (which alway's steals my heart), and is not only great at making your skin look radient... I'm delighted to share that it's taste free too :D

So ladies, I hope my little discovery and insight has helped you in your search for your perfect beauty product :) My skin is soft and clear... and most of the products cost less than £10! It's going to be difficult for Santa not to pick up a couple of these for me this year ;)

Here's to starting 2013 looking as good as we feel!

Happy Pampering!
